Mead is ancient alcoholic beverage derived from honey. In its most common form, it is essentially a honey wine. While it is only made up of a few natural ingredients including honey, water and yeast, it can be blended and fermented with a wide range of fruits, berries, herbs and spices. It is classified as a wine in the U.S. due to its alcohol content, which usually ranges from 10-15%. However some Mead's are as low as 6%,and can be as high as 20%.

Mead can take on a wide range of flavors and levels of sweetness depending on the fermentation process, much like wine. The overall flavor of the mead depends on the honey used. Meads can be made dry like a pinot grigio or chardonnay, and can also be made semi-sweet. Often we incorporate other natural ingredients to add unique flavors to our mead. If you have any specific questions about the flavor of a certain mead, feel free to contact us.

All of our honey is currently 100% from the United States, with all of it coming from the local D.C., Virginia, Maryland (DMV) area. We are looking to incorporate local honey from small producers in every batch. All of the herbs and spices are acquired from distributors with the highest quality. We source our fruits locally, since our meads are seasonal, and work with local farmers markets to get the freshest and most in-season fruits.
